Over 1,700 indigent senior citizens in Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon received their 3rd quarter national and local social pensions on August 12, 2025.

Manolo Fortich, Bukidnon – A total of 1,727 indigent senior citizens from various barangays in Manolo Fortich received their 3rd Quarter National and Local Social Pension during the first day of payout on August 12, 2025.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development – Region 10 (DSWD-10) facilitated the National Social Pension Program, while the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Manolo Fortich—through the Municipal Treasurer’s Office and the Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) under the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO)—handled the Local Social Pension Program. This initiative is under the Social Pension Program for Indigent Senior Citizens (SPISC) of the DSWD mandated by Republic Act No. 11916.

Payout Coverage and Distribution Teams

The disbursing team was divided into two groups:

  • Team 1, led by OSCA Head Phoebe Cau, served beneficiaries from Barangays Lingion, Ticala, Sankanan, Kalugmanan, and Lindaban.
  • Team 2, led by Senior Citizen Focal Person Raquel Cenia, distributed pensions to beneficiaries from Barangays Santiago, Dalirig, Dicklum, Guilang-guilang, Maluko, and Tankulan.

In total:

  • 1,022 senior citizens received their National Social Pension amounting to ₱3,000 each.
  • 705 senior citizens received their Local Social Pension amounting to ₱1,500 each.

OSCA’s Statement and LGU Initiative

OSCA Head Phoebe Cau explained that social pension payouts are conducted quarterly:

“Mahitungod sa atong social pension nga release, ipahigayon ni kada tulo ka bulan, so quarterly gyud. Ang national [pension] nato gikan gyud na sa central office, while ang atong local [pension] gikan sa LGU nga gipaabot ngadto sa ila.”

She also thanked Municipal Mayor Rogelio N. Quiño for approving and implementing the Local Social Pension Program, an LGU initiative aimed at assisting senior citizens who are not covered by the national pension due to limited slots.

Beneficiary Testimony

One of the beneficiaries, 77-year-old Erlindo Dahe from Barangay Sankanan, shared how the local pension has been a great help for his household:

“Daghan gyud akong gamitan ani, ang pamalit sa bugas, hilabi na ana, sa sud-an o unsa pa diha, kurente. Ika desi-otso na ni karon nga naka kuha ko aning pension. Pasalamat ko ani Mayor kay dako kaayo nakatabang sa amoa ang local pension.”

Dahe, accompanied by his wife—who also received her local social pension—said the assistance helps them meet basic needs despite having no regular medication expenses.

A Continuing Commitment to Senior Citizens

The coordinated efforts of the national and local government demonstrate a strong commitment to supporting the welfare of the elderly, easing their financial burdens while recognizing their invaluable contributions to society.
