The Municipal Cooperative Development Council (MCDC), in partnership with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Manolo Fortich, visited Sitio Bulakog in Barangay Lingion on October 18, 2025, to conduct an outreach activity that marked the culmination of the month-long Cooperative Month celebration.
Feeding Program and slipper distribution for 180 children
As part of the event, 180 children benefited from a feeding program and received free slippers. During the program, Municipal Cooperative Development Office (MCDO) Head Abigail R. Palma emphasized the economic impact of cooperatives on local communities, “Ang kooperatiba usa ka pwersa nga naghatag og oportunidad, kabuhayan, ug paglaum. Pinaagi sa panaghiusa, atong mapalambo ang ekonomiya ug mahatagan og mas maayong kinabuhi ang matag miyembro.”
This year’s nationwide celebration carried the theme, “Cooperatives united in purpose and action, sharing prosperity to build a better world.” The message encouraged cooperatives to work collectively toward sustainable development and improved community well-being.
Cooperatives join forces to support outreach
A total of 24 cooperatives joined the culminating activity, including Pineapple Supervisors Multi-Purpose Cooperative (PISCOR), DMPI Employees Agrarian Reform Beneficiaries Cooperative (DEARBC), General Services Multipurpose Cooperative (GSMPC), and Bukidnon Community Cooperative (BCC)—who sponsored 180 pairs of slippers and provided meals for the feeding program.
In addition to the 180 child beneficiaries, 20 raffle prizes containing packed goods were given to parents. Among the winners was Rosalia Cuarez, who expressed her appreciation for the cooperatives’ initiative, “Salamat kay nakadawat mi og grasya gikan sa mga kooperatiba kay og ako, ayha ra maka ginansya kung naay magpapugas og mais nga adlawan lang na kita. Dakong tabang kaayo ni hilabina pud para sa akong anak nga nakadawat og tsinelas.”
Serving as the keynote speaker, Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) - 10 Senior Cooperative Development Specialist Edwin B. Pelosas reminded everyone of the continuing mission of cooperatives within the community, “Today is not just the closing celebration, but a reaffirmation of our mission as a cooperative community.”

Quiño, as reflected in the fifth point of his 10-Point Agenda: “Employment Opportunities through Livelihood, Commerce, and Trade.” Through sustained partnerships and support, cooperatives are envisioned to thrive and empower individuals to take active roles in shaping a prosperous and inclusive future for their communities.
