Free Health Services Highlight May Measurement Month 2026 in Manolo Fortich

MHO Leads Campaign for Early Detection and Prevention of Hypertension

The Municipal Health Office (MHO) of Manolo Fortich spearheaded the observance of May Measurement Month 2026, providing residents with free health services aimed at promoting early detection and prevention of hypertension and other non-communicable diseases.

The activity was conducted in support of the Department of Health Region 10's nationwide campaign, which encourages Filipinos to regularly monitor their blood pressure and overall health status to reduce the risk of serious illnesses such as heart disease, stroke, and diabetes.

Streamlined Health Screening for Residents
To ensure efficient delivery of services, the MHO implemented a step-by-step process for participants. Residents first underwent registration before proceeding to vital signs monitoring and physical assessment, where their weight, height, and blood pressure were measured.

The initiative allowed healthcare workers to identify individuals who may be at risk of hypertension and other health conditions, enabling timely medical intervention and health counseling.

Residents Benefit from Free Medical Services and Medicines
Aside from vital signs assessment, residents also availed themselves of free medical consultations, distribution of medicines, Random Blood Sugar Testing, PhilHealth Yakap Registration Profiling, and Non-Communicable Disease interventions through the Philippine Package of Essential Non-Communicable Disease Interventions (PhilPEN).

Among the beneficiaries was Mary Jane B. Peñalas, who expressed her gratitude for the free medical services and medicines provided during the activity. “Nagpa-check-up ko karon kay ang akong high blood, sugar , cholesterol og dako gyud salamat nga naka-avail ko sa mga tambal sa doktor karon nga libre. Daghan kaayo ko gibati, naa koy high blood, duha na ka tuig akong maintenance,” she said.

Strengthening Community Health Through Preventive Care
According to Dr. Nur Mahmood A. Muti, Rural Health Physician, the activity forms part of the Department of Health's annual campaign to encourage regular health monitoring among the public, particularly those with existing medical conditions. “Atong pasalamatan si Mayor Rogelio Quiño, sa pag-suporta niining programa. Kining May Measurement Month, programa sa DOH kada Mayo para mag-check ang constituents sa ilang blood pressure, random blood sugar, cholesterol. Gina-cater nato kining naay mga maintenance, nga senior citizen, sa high blood, diabetes,” he said. Dr. Muti emphasized the importance of regular health screening, especially for senior citizens and individuals managing hypertension and diabetes, to help prevent complications and improve overall quality of life.

Advancing the Health Agenda for Manoleños
Health and wellness remain one of the key priorities under Mayor Rogelio N. Quiño's 8-Point Agenda. Through initiatives such as May Measurement Month, the local government continues to promote preventive healthcare and encourage residents to regularly monitor their blood pressure and seek early intervention against hypertension and related diseases.

The Municipal Health Office continues to strengthen its efforts in bringing accessible and quality healthcare services closer to every Manoleño, supporting the municipality's vision of a healthier and more resilient community.
