As School Year 2026–2027 begins, Aboitiz Renewables, Inc. (ARI), the renewable energy arm of Aboitiz Power Corporation (AboitizPower), reaffirmed its commitment to supporting education through its participation in Brigada Eskwela activities across its host communities nationwide.
In the weeks leading up to the opening of classes, the company mobilized employees, resources, and local partners to help prepare public schools for the new academic year. Through classroom repainting, facility repairs, and the provision of learning materials, Aboitiz Renewables helped create safer, more conducive learning environments for students.
Nationwide Effort Reaches 31 Public Schools
Aboitiz Renewables provided more than PHP 529,000 worth of assistance to 31 public schools and three Schools Division Offices across Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
The support included paint, construction and electrical materials, school supplies, water pipes, and school garden materials, among others. Working alongside teachers, parents, local government representatives, and community partners, the company tailored its assistance to address the specific needs of each school community.
Bukidnon Schools Receive Essential Infrastructure Support
In Northern Mindanao, Bontongon Elementary School, Lingion Elementary School, and Maluko National High School in Bukidnon received painting, electrical, plumbing, and construction materials.
The assistance addressed priority needs identified by teachers and community stakeholders ahead of the opening of classes, helping ensure that school facilities were ready to welcome students for the new academic year.
Cordillera Schools Receive Classroom Improvements
In the Cordillera region, six schools benefited from the initiative, including Bodiweng Elementary School, Ampucao National High School, and Bakun National High School.
The schools received paint, LED bulbs, paint brushes, rollers, and protective equipment, helping refresh classrooms and learning spaces in preparation for the opening of classes.
Volunteers Support Schools in Laguna and Batangas
In the host communities of the Makban Geothermal Power Plant, which span Bay and Calauan in Laguna and Sto. Tomas in Batangas, 63 volunteers participated in a hands-on Brigada Eskwela activity at Sta. Elena Elementary School.
Volunteers repainted four classrooms and several shared spaces within the school. In addition, paint and construction materials were distributed to 10 other schools in the area, including Bitin Elementary School, San Pedro National High School, and San Jose Elementary School, as well as three Schools Division Offices.
The initiative extended support to classrooms and facilities requiring assistance beyond what could be accomplished during a single volunteer activity.
School Communities in Albay Benefit from Partnership
In Tiwi, Albay, 44 volunteers joined Brigada Eskwela activities at Putsan Elementary School, where they repainted the school's 10-classroom Edna Sanchez Building and improved other sections of the campus.
Support was likewise extended to eight additional schools in the area, including Tiwi Central Elementary School, Car-Nag Elementary School, Libjo Elementary School, Biyong Elementary School, Cale Elementary School, and Belen Elementary School.
According to Cynthia C. Competente, Master Teacher II and Teacher-in-Charge of Putsan Elementary School, the company's assistance significantly contributed to the success of the school's Brigada Eskwela activities. “The support from Aboitiz Renewables played an important role in the success of our Brigada Eskwela activities. Volunteers participated in cleaning, repairing, and beautifying different areas of the school — helping accomplish improvements that would have been difficult to complete with our limited resources alone,” she said.
Investing in the Future Through Education
For Aboitiz Renewables, Brigada Eskwela serves as more than a school maintenance initiative—it is an investment in the future of the communities it serves. “Every child who walks into a well-prepared classroom is one step closer to reaching their full potential. We believe that today’s learners are tomorrow’s leaders, and that helping schools open their doors ready for students is one of the most meaningful ways we can invest in the communities we serve,” said Alexander B. Coo, Chief Operating Officer of Aboitiz Renewables.
“When employees, teachers, parents, and community partners come together the way they did this Brigada Eskwela, the impact goes far beyond fresh paint — it is an investment in every young person who is only beginning to discover what they are capable of,” he added.
Supporting Brighter Futures
Through Brigada Eskwela and its broader community development initiatives, Aboitiz Renewables continues to work alongside its host communities in strengthening public education and creating better opportunities for Filipino learners.
By helping schools prepare for the start of classes, the company contributes to creating learning environments where students can thrive, reinforcing the belief that a brighter school year is the foundation of a brighter future.
