Manolo Fortich Advances Community Preparedness Through Crisis Information Education Campaign

LGU Completes Barangay-Level Campaign Across 22 Communities

MANOLO FORTICH, Bukidnon — The Local Government Unit of Manolo Fortich successfully concluded its barangay-level Crisis Information Education Campaign (CIEC) on June 18 in Barangay Kalugmanan, marking the culmination of a municipality-wide effort to equip residents with practical knowledge and life-saving information for times of crisis and emergencies.

Led by the LGU’s Crisis Education Team, the campaign reached all 22 barangays of the municipality, bringing together community leaders, volunteers, and residents for a series of educational discussions aimed at strengthening household resilience and community preparedness.

Empowering Residents Through Crisis Education

Throughout the campaign, participants were introduced to practical strategies that can help families cope with economic and social challenges. Topics included household budgeting and expense reduction, water and electricity conservation, urban gardening, and food security initiatives through the Utanan sa Tugkaran Program.

The campaign also featured discussions on crime prevention conducted by personnel from the Philippine National Police–Manolo Fortich Station and fire safety awareness sessions facilitated by representatives from the Bureau of Fire Protection–Manolo Fortich Fire Station.

Meanwhile, the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) provided information on Violence Against Women and Their Children (VAWC), emphasizing the importance of protecting vulnerable sectors and promoting safe communities.

Organizers stressed that preparedness begins at home and that simple, proactive measures can significantly improve a family's ability to withstand crises and emergencies.

Mayor Quiño Calls for Unity and Collective Action

During the culmination program, Mayor Rogelio N. Quiño emphasized the importance of solidarity, cooperation, and mutual support among community members, particularly during challenging times.

He encouraged participants to put into practice the lessons learned from the campaign and help foster a culture of preparedness in their households and neighborhoods. “

Magkahiusa ta aron ang atong mga kaigsoonan nga labing lisod atong matabangan sab intawon,” Mayor Quiño said.

“Nagtoo ko nga ang Manolo Fortich nagpabiling nagkahiusa diha sa pagtinabanagay aron sa pagsolbad sa kahimtang sa kalisod ning panahona,” he added.

Mayor Quiño underscored that community resilience is strengthened when residents work together and actively support one another in addressing shared challenges.

Participants Encouraged to Share What They Learned

Vice Mayor Reynaldo L. Bagayas Jr. likewise challenged participants to become advocates of preparedness by sharing the knowledge they gained with their families, friends, and fellow community members.

He stressed that the information learned during the campaign should extend beyond the participants themselves and reach a wider audience for greater community impact. “

Participants Pledge Commitment to Community Preparedness

As part of the culmination activity, participants took a pledge of commitment to apply the lessons learned and share them within their respective barangays.

The gesture symbolized the collective responsibility of residents to promote awareness, preparedness, and resilience in their communities.

Building a Safer and More Resilient Manolo Fortich

The Crisis Education Team, headed by Municipal Information Office Head Joey T. Yecyec, expressed optimism that the campaign would create a ripple effect of awareness and preparedness throughout the municipality.

By empowering residents with practical knowledge on safety, resource management, livelihood resilience, and social protection, the campaign aims to help build safer, more self-reliant, and disaster-resilient communities across Manolo Fortich.

Also expressing support for the initiative were Sangguniang Bayan Members Elzevir Dagunlay and Raquel Abales-Bayacag, who recognized the importance of continuing community-based education programs that strengthen public awareness and preparedness.

Through the successful implementation of the Crisis Information Education Campaign, the Local Government Unit of Manolo Fortich reaffirmed its commitment to empowering residents with the knowledge and tools necessary to face challenges, respond to emergencies, and contribute to a stronger and more resilient community.
