OFFICE OF THE BUILDING OFFICIAL AND WATER DISTRICT HOSTS BI-MONTHLY CONVOCATION

In the pursuit of governement transparency

The Office of the Office of the Building Official (OBO) and Water District presented their respective offices’ accomplishment reports in lieu of the convocation program held on August 14, 2023 at the New Government Center Lobby.

The Office of the Building Official headed by Officer-In-Charge Engr. Rosa Bella D. Saluta, is in charge of the enforcement of the provisions of the National Building Code (P.D. 1096) and its Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR)  as well as ordinances, orders, circulars and decisions made pursuant to the code. Mainly, the office oversees issuances of Building Permit, Certificate of Occupancy, and Clearances for Electrical Connection to government and private entities.

Engr. Saluta shared that they have issued 283 Building Permits, 200 Certificates of Occupancy and 1,189 for Clearances for Electrical Connection from January to December in the year 2022 garnering a total revenue of 3,948,251.56 pesos including collections from annual inspection fee. Engr. Saluta also expressed her thanks to Mayor Rogelio N. Quiño and the Sannguninag Bayan Members headed by Vice Mayor Reynaldo L. Bagayas Jr. in pursuing for the creation of OBO and their recently constructed workspace. “Nagpasalamat jud mi ug dako sa atong Mayor Rogelio Quiño and to the SB members headed by Vice Mayor Reynaldo Bagayas Jr. for the creation of the OBO and sa amoang separate nga office in making it possible.”

On the other hand, Engr. Rogelio K. Pangan, the General Manager of the Manolo Fortich Water District, carried out the accomplishment of the agency. Highlighting the number of households or population served which reached 67,235 in the year 2023 as of June. However, Pangan also honestly relayed the other 51,569 population which were not served due to technical shortcomings such as but not limited to low water pressure that could not penetrate to specific areas.

Mayor Rogelio N. Quiño, who earnestly peruse every accomplishment report asked specific information regarding the Water District report. In particular, the mayor was interested in knowing the reason behind the increase in the water billings. Engr. Pangan explained that this was mainly because of the increase in the electricity bill their agency has to shoulder which has increase drastically from 1.5 Million to 4 million this year and the increase in consumers.

On the brighter side, the corporation has already planned and executed various steps to control the price hike in the coming years. One of it is the Surface Water Development Project which could help increase water source to suffice the demand in the municipality, the continuing pipeline replacement in various barangays, the completion of the Dahilayan Water Treatment Plan, and the plan to purchase Self-Cleaning Filter Machines among others.
