Municipal Linggo Ng Kabataan Celebration unravels Competition Winners

Youth leadership exemplification through active participation

The celebration of the annual Linggo ng Kabataan gathered youth leaders from the 22 barangays as well as participating public and private institutions in the municipality of Manolo Fortich on September 30, 2023 at the Municipal Gymnasium anchored with the theme, Green Skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable World.

The youth representatives participated in a Mental Health Symposium with guest speaker Dr. Jaymee Leonen- Pagaspas where she presented various ways to cope up with stress and anxiety among teenagers. In the afternoon, the participants competed with various activities prepared by the Local Youth Development Office.

The gathering was well-supported by the SK Federation President Mark Anthony G. Leyson, 1^st District Congressman Jose Manuel Alba, Councilor Rina E. Quiño, Bukidnon SK Federation President Alejandro Dano Jr. who delivered Provincial Governor Rogelio Neil Roque’s message to the youth and the Provincial Vice Governor Clive D. Quiño who were present in the said event.

In his message, Vice Governor Quiño shared the relevance of the existence of the Philippine Eagle in the Municipality of Manolo Fortich and in the whole Province of Bukidnon. “I’m proud to tell you nga sa entiro Pilipinas, ang Bukidnon karon ang naay pinaka daghan nga Philippine Eagle. And that is an achievement. That is something that we should cherish, kay it means that Bukidnon is safe and environmentally sustainable.” He also posed a significant challenge to the youth. “So each one of you as officials of this municipality has a great responsibility to maintain it. Always maintain that sense of responsibility. It is your job to protect the municipality.”

The youth representatives expressed their various experiences during the event tailored for them. One of them is Elbern T. Onahon Jr, 16 years old from Manolo Fortich National High School. “Lingaw kaayo, amazing race man among giapilan ato tapos lingaw jud mi og dula sa games kay challenging man. Tapos akong natun-an kay importante jud ang teamwork, mas maayo jud nga naay kauban nga mutabang sa imoha.” Rafa Emmanuel B. Saplot also shared her sentiments, “For me kay fun kaayo to nga day, nalingaw ko sa mga dula especially atong kamang-kamang. Fun experience kaayo siya.”
