MENRO hails Barangay Gawad Pangulo sa Kapaligiran Winners 2023

Manolo Fortich towards a clean, green and sustainable environment.

The Local Government of Manolo Fortich once again awarded the winners of the Barangay Gawad Pangulo sa Kapaligiran during the convocation program held at the Municipal Lobby at the New Government Center on October 9, 2023.

The winners in the contests are the following; Barangay Guilang-Guilang for the Hinterland Category, Barangay Mantibugao for the Midland Category and lastly, Barangay Damilag for the Highway Category.

Each winning Barangay shall receive a cash award amounting to Thirty Thousand pesos and 5 thousand pesos to each minor award. The minor awards were given to the following barangays: Best in Environment-Friendly Practices to Barangay Damilag, Best in Space Greening garnered by Barangay Mantibugao and Best in Support System given to Barangay Santiago.

Barangay Captain Allan Torres Jr. of Barangay Damilag extended his message upon the declaration of their barangay as one of the winners and garnering the highest points among the 22 barangays. “Malipayon kaayo sa nakuha nga ganti o award sa cleanest and greenest barangay sabay sa Environment-Friendly practices nga gi-initiate sa atong Local Government sa Manolo Fortich pinaagi sa atong Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office. Salamat kaayo Ma’am Sha and Sir Fredo. Para sa akoa ang hinungdan sa kadaogan isa na ang pagsunod sa mandato sa gobyerno. Gisustinar nato ang mga pahina para mamintinar nato ang kalimpyo sa palibot.” He also added that the project and initiated activities are heavily backed-up with proper documentation and endless support of his contituents and other participating agencies. Last year, Barangay Damilag also ranked 1^st in the same category along with Barangay Santiago and Barangay Mantibugao.

The Search for the Barangay Gawad Pangulo sa Kapaligiran started last September 11-21, 2023 headed by the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office with the help of various LGU personnel as evaluators from the Municipal Health Office, Department of Interior Local Government, Tourism Office and Municipal Information Office. The competition was held in lieu of the celebration of the National Clean-up Month and in accordance to Executive Order No. 113, Series of 1999.

The criteria of the contest include evaluation on Physical Condition, Space Greening, Support System and Sustainability patterned from the provincial criteria for the GPK.
