Discussions on Fish Farming such as its preparation, nutrition, generics, management, and environment was given out by partner corporation of the seminar, Archer Daniels Midland (ADM) through resource speakers, Ray Licmoan and Julius Benagua. The seminar was organized by Municipal Administrator Engr. Joie Caesar M. Gaid who is also an enthusiast on Fish Farming and Aquaculture.

In his opening remarks, Gaid expressed how important it is to deliver every sort of training to Manoleños in order to fulfill everyone’s interests, as well as options for livelihood. “Diri sa Manolo Fortich, ang atong mga ka igsoonan, lahi lahi gyud og mga interests. Naa pud mahilig magbuhi og isda. So, depende nalang dayun sa inyong nakita karon, kung ganado ba mo. Pero ganado or dili, ihatag gyud gihapon ni namo sa inyo nga training kay basin makatabang ni sa inyong pag pangita og panginabuhi.”

Apart from the seminar, Licmoan of ADM also showcased to the 34 participants the sample feeds for freshwater fry and fingerlings such as tilapia, catfish, or salmon. The participants were also given the opportunity to visit and see for themselves an aquaculture farm at The White Fence Aquafarm, Barangay Mampayag, Manolo Fortich which is also managed and owned by Gaid, who has been in the field of aquaculture for years. There, they were able to witness fishponds and the freshwater fish, the African Hito in all of its sizes and ages. A series of discussions and demonstrations was continued at the aquaculture farm.

Ciprianita P. Tabir from Zone 1, Barangay Dicklum, is among the enthusiasts on fish farming who had the chance to participate in the seminar. According to her, training like this is rare. Thus, every opportunity should be grabbed, “Nagpasalamat gyud ko sa higayon na nakaapil ko ani kay usahay ra gyud naay mga ingani (seminars). Gaatiman man mi sa akong anak og mga isda sa balay pero mas maayo gyud gihapon na makaapil og mga seminar ani aron madugangan among kahibalo. Dako na ni nga opportunity.”

Aquaculture and Fish Farming is quite a rare field to be explored and experienced. Moreover, the 2nd Municipal Livelihood Summit proved to be a worthwhile avenue for every field and interests being catered as a training. Giving the people of Manolo Fortich plenty of choices to choose from in order to start up their livelihood. It is only through Mayor Rogelio N. Quiño’s vision for the municipality’s economic growth that these trainings are made possible.
