NBSC UNVEILS STUDENT WELFARE AND DEVELOPMENT CENTER

A catalyst for cultural richness and academic excellence

Manolo Fortich is adamant about pursuing better educational opportunities for its future as a new center of education opens at Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC). The Student Welfare and Development Center opens to the students of NBSC as it is graced by the presence of Senate President Hon. Juan Miguel "Migz" Zubiri and Municipal Mayor Rogelio N. Quiño during its inauguration and turnover ceremony on February 2, 2024.

The Student Welfare and Development Center is a 3-storey building with 2 elevators, solely funded by the office of the Senate President Zubiri worth 150 million pesos. It will serve as a newly established center of education at NBSC where culture and arts can thrive for both educators and students.

"This is not just a building. It is the heart and soul of our institution with 60% of our student population belonging to indigenous tribes. This center is designed to be inclusive and reflective of the rich cultural diversity that defines our college community," says NBSC college president Dr. Catherine Roween C. Almaden, PhD.

Additionally, Dr. Almaden presents that the center will focus more on the unique heritage of Manolo Fortich, "At the core of this facility are the modern amenities that will host various student services. One of which is our cultural and innovative hub. A space that celebrates and preserves our indigenous communities. It is going to be where creativity and tradition converge, fostering an environment that encourages the expression of our unique cultural heritage."

The center will house rooms and hubs directed to studying the indigenous heritage such as a Cultural and Creative Innovation hub, Culture and Arts Office, Research Office, Teaching and Learning Center, Teaching and Innovations Learning Laboratory, Sports and Recreation Center and the like. It will also house the Students Affairs Office, Guidance Counseling Office, Student Leadership Center, Extension Office, Students Enterprise Center. Two conference halls with a maximum capacity of 300 people are also ready and available.

"The only way na mahatagan nato og solusyon ang pagkakabos ug kapobrehon sa atong katawhan sa Bukidnon is through education. That is the only way that we see. It has long-lasting effects. My priority really is education," remarks Sen. Zubiri on how he emphasizes that proper education can solve poverty in Bukidnon.

In response, Manolo Fortich Municipal Mayor Rogelio N. Quiño adds his vision for education in Manolo Fortich and extends his gratitude to Sen. Zubiri, "Naa gyud tay 10-point agenda and one of that is 'Education for All'. Tinguha gyud nato nga makaeskwela ang atong mga kabataan hilabina ang mga naglisod dinha sa mga kabarangayan. With the development of this center, salamat kaayo Senator Migz nga dinhi sa Manolo Fortich gyud nabutang ug nadugang sa among kakulangan ang mga school rooms."

Dr. Almaden also showed her deepest appreciation for the project, "Our deepest gratitude to the honorable Senate President Migz Zubiri and all highly esteemed leaders who have contributed to the realization of this center. It is a symbol of our shared commitment to the empowerment and wellbeing of our students and stakeholders. I am confident that this will stand as a fortress of education for generations to come."

Moreover, the Student Welfare and Development Center will only be just the beginning of the numerous projects to come at NBSC as Sen. Zubiri guarantees. The next project will be the IT Building worth 20 million pesos and provision of cemented roads for the whole campus of NBSC. Truly, a remarkable vision for the future for the progress of NBSC.

In his closing message, Sen. Zubiri shares his biggest goal for NBSC, "Ipagwapo nato ang Northern Bukidnon State College. Let us make it a premiere college for eventual conversion to a state university. Hinay hinayon nato na."
