MANOLO FORTICH PARTICIPATES IN WORLD WETLANDS DAY 2024

World Wetlands Day 2024

The Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) of Manolo Fortich took the lead in the celebration of World Wetlands Day 2024 on February 2, 2024.

Accordingly, a tree-growing activity was conducted in the area-4 easement of the Municipal Tree Park located in Barangay San Miguel. A total of three hundred seedlings of Molave ​​or Tugas tree were planted in that area. Among the volunteers of the said activity were the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), 52nd Engineer Brigade (PA), Manolo Fortich Fire Station, Community Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), including employees of the Local Government of Manolo Fortich and Barangay Council.

According to MENR Officer Sharon G. Tacbobo, the one-day celebration of World Wetlands Day serves as a reminder to people about the importance of protecting and preserving water sources and reservoirs.

"Kining naay mga lakes, rivers and streams nga punduhan sa tubig nga sila matawag nga mga panel, nga  ang tubig gikan sa ibabaw ngadto ubos maoy instrumental sa pag-recharge sa atong underground water. Kay kung mawala ang atong mga wetlands, minus ang re-charging sa gakuhaan sa tubig nga paga-imnon busa angay kini atimanon.", Tacbobo stated.

Additionally, other activities during the celebration included the ribbon cutting and blessing of the Municipal Forest Nursery building that was located inside the Mangima Spring Resort in Dalirig, Manolo Fortich. The facility will provide housing for seedlings of trees, among others, for better tending and monitoring

52nd Engineer Brigade (PA) Chaplin, Rev. Fr. Antenor M. Hernandez led the blessing of the building. Also present was Committee on Tourism Chairperson Councilor Rina E. Quiño.
