MASBATE CITY‒This year’s national competition, the Rodeo Masbateño Festival, witnessed the wit and strength of the cowboys of Manolo Fortich as the LGU Manolo Fortich Rodeo Team is an overall 3rd Placer from over 12 teams with 300 players all over Philippines who vied for a podium finish on one of the most extreme sports in the Philippines.
The Rodeo Masbateño, a festival, not only a competition, gives significance to the rich cattle industry of Masbate. It showcases activities that highlight the culture of rodeo and a lifestyle related to raising cattles such as bull-whipping, bull-riding, carambola, casting down, and the like. Moreover, the festival has a wide array displaying the people’s way of life in working with livestock in the province.
Primarily, in 1993, former governor of Masbate Emilio Espinosa Jr. launched the first ever Rodeo Masbateño Festival. By September 2, 2002, former president Gloria Macapagal Arroyo had issued the Executive Order No. 120 which declared Masbate as the official rodeo capital of the Philippines. Since then, the annual festival and competition has been an avenue of a vigor display of rodeo in the country.
In its 31st year of welcoming skillful cowboy, the national competition opened its doors to participants on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 and ended on Friday, April 12, 2024. The LGU Manolo Fortich Rodeo Team graces the competition and brings home the following awards marking their way as a 3rd Placer:

Furthermore, the LGU Manolo Fortich Rodeo Team sets out bearing the name of Manolo Fortich with pride and justice as it is among the municipalities of Bukidnon that is also rich in the cattle industry and rodeo culture. The Local Government Unit of Manolo Fortich headed by Municipal Mayor Rogelio N. Quiño and Vice Mayor Reynaldo L. Bagayas Jr. Chairman of the Sports for All Program in Manolo Fortich continues to extend its commendation for the team’s consistency and skills.
