Miss Philippines Earth 2024

May 3, 2024 - 14 candidates for Miss Philippines Earth 2024 visited Manolo Fortich to witness and get a glimpse of its scenery, culture, tourism, cuisine, and the warm hospitality of the locals. The purpose of the visit was also to deliver and promote their advocacies anchored on the earth’s protection and preservation.

The candidates came from all over the Philippines, including Palawan, Quirino, Oriental Mindoro, Aurora, Misamis Oriental, Batangas City, Bukidnon, Bulacan, Cabanatuan, Pangasinan, Davao City, Agusan Del Sur, Iligan City, and a candidate from the Filipino Community in Brandon, Florida, was also present. They enjoyed a delicious breakfast at the Bamboo Pavilion, located at Sitio Miranda, Barangay Damilag, where they savored Filipino cuisine while admiring the traditional architecture.

The next stop was Ogaong View Deck, located at Sitio Ogaong, Barangay Sto. Niño. The place offered a panoramic view of majestic mountains, picturesque scenery, and lush greenery, symbolizing the municipality's dedication to preserving the natural beauty and abundance of its surroundings. The candidates seized the opportunity to capture the pristine landscape in photographs. The Barangay Council of Sto. Niño presented their locally produced dishes, including puto (steamed rice cake), suman binggala, and empanadas, to the candidates.

After delighting in the visual and culinary treats, they joined Mayor Rogelio N. Quiño's Real Quality Public Service (RQPS) program, participating in a feeding program for local pupils in Barangay Lindaban. They witnessed the impact of grassroots initiatives and saw the efforts of the municipality through providing free services to barangays every Friday of the week.

As they immersed themselves more, they proceeded to the New Government Center of the Manolo Fortich Local Government Unit (LGU) in Barangay Tankulan. After receiving a warm welcome from the employees of the LGU, they listened to a brief presentation on Manolo Fortich's good practices on Solid Waste Management from the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO), led by Officer Sharon Tacbobo.

After the presentation, the candidates visited Manolo Fortich’s Sanitary Landfill facility, where they were given a firsthand look at the municipality’s efforts in waste management practices. They were impressed by the commitment to proper waste disposal and recycling as they were presented with blocks made from solid wastes for construction purposes.

To conclude their visit, a motorcade was done routing from the Tourist Rest Area in Barangay Tankulan to Barangay Agusan Canyon.

As advocates for environmental conservation and sustainability, the candidates utilized their platform to promote the importance of protecting our natural resources and implementing eco-friendly initiatives to combat climate change and secure a sustainable future for generations to come.
