The Galing ng Pangangalaga sa Kalikasan (GPK) evaluation was conducted to assess the 22 barangays of Manolo Fortich on their best practices for preserving and protecting the environment, in preparation for the Provincial GPK Evaluation. Following the 1st Monday Convocation on October 14, 2024, Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer Sharon Tacbobo presented the list of barangays in the municipality that excelled in their efforts toward environmental preservation and protection.
The evaluation featured three major categories: the Hinterland category, the Midland category, and the Highway category. Barangay Mantibugao achieved the highest score in the Midland category, with a score of 76.5, for their exemplary environmental practices. Barangay Dahilayan scored 76 in the Hinterland category, while Barangay Damilag scored 73 in the Highway category. Barangay Mantibugao also won the Best in Envi-Friendly Practices award under the Special Awards. Other winners include Barangay Dahilayan, which received the Best in BaRCO (Barangay Road Clearing Operation) award, Barangay Lunocan, which won Best in Hapag Implementation, and Barangay Sankanan, recognized as Best in Support System.
Mantibugao Barangay Captain Imebel Garcia expressed her gratitude to the residents, volunteers, and Barangay Council of Mantibugao for their collaborative efforts that led to their recognition as the barangay with the highest score in Best Environmental Practices. “From the start gyud gikan sa pag-assume namo sa office, gikalipay gyud namo nga ang MENRO staff naghatag gayud kanamo og unsay angay namong buhaton para ma-mintenar gyud ang kinaiyahan diha sa Barangay Mantibugao. Dako kayo mig pasalamat, una dili kini magmalampuson kung wala gyud ang tabang sa katawhan kay pipila lamang ang mga lumilihok sa barangay,” stated Capt. Garcia.
