Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC) has expanded its networks with media and information units through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Municipal Information Office (MIO) under the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Manolo Fortich, and a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with Radyo Natin, based in Barangay San Miguel. The signing ceremony took place on December 11, 2024, at the NBSC Student Council Building in Barangay Tankulan.
Representing LGU Manolo Fortich was Municipal Administrator Engr. Joie Caesar M. Gaid, accompanied by MIO staff Julius Paurillo, who served as a witness to the signing of the MOU. On behalf of Radyo Natin, Ernyl Jan Doyola signed the MOA, representing Station Manager Engr. Rodolfo Pancrudo.
The MOU and MOA aim to strengthen cooperation in information dissemination and collaboration in various activities. These include conducting lectures, symposiums, and capacity-building sessions; implementing joint communication extension projects; exchanging informational materials; and sharing best practices in information dissemination. By introducing journalism to NBSC’s student journalists and staff, as well as to aspiring journalists, the partnership seeks to nurture a mutually beneficial relationship that will contribute to producing top-tier journalists in Manolo Fortich.
Communications and External Relations Office (CERO) Director Dr. Maria Theresa Cabudoy expressed her enthusiasm for the initiative. “I believe that this will really make history for NBSC. Our students are really rooting for this collaboration, especially with our Ballpoint editorial staff, our CERO staff, and our students undertaking internships in the BS IT, TEP, and BSBA programs.”
Engr. Gaid delivered a message on behalf of Mayor Rogelio N. Quiño, underscoring the importance of the partnership. “Si Mayor, the first of his 10-Point Agenda is really for quality education, and with this, we may, and we can improve communication skills and especially harness the collaboration on information dissemination, not only in the locality but even in the entire provinces in the island of Mindanao. Maybe on a national level. So we’re happy, and we’re looking forward to many more partnerships, especially for the good and development of our students as well as for the community,” said Engr. Gaid.
Among the witnesses to the signing were Dr. Helen Maasin, Vice President for Administration and Finance, and Dr. Jovelyn Delosa, Vice President for Academic Affairs.
