25 participants, primarily newly registered business owners in Manolo Fortich, attended a free seminar on entrepreneurial mindsetting conducted by Negosyo Center - Trade Industry Development Analyst (TIDA) Jayson L. Albarracin of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI). The event took place on February 19, 2025, at the Technical Skills and Development Center, Norminco Compound, Barangay Tankulan.
The seminar aimed to equip business owners with the right mindset and essential skills to establish and sustain their enterprises, ultimately contributing to the economic development of the municipality. “It is important for an entrepreneur to establish [a] proper mindset, right character, and ability before engaging into business. This seminar aims to provide basic info on what is business all about, key areas to consider, and steps for business enterprises to grow and flourish,” Albarracin emphasized.
On the same day, Albarracin also conducted an orientation on the Barangay Micro Business Enterprise (BMBE), highlighting the benefits of registration. With the collaborative efforts of the Negosyo Center of Manolo Fortich, DTI-Negosyo Center, Local Economic Development and Investment Promotion Office (LEDIPO), Northern Bukidnon State College (NBSC), and the Manolo Fortich Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (MFCCII), this initiative sought to enhance the skills and knowledge of participants, particularly those new to the world of entrepreneurship.
One of the participants, 23-year-old farmer Noel Francis Labis, owns Pinces Farms in Barangay Alae. He primarily uses hydroponics to grow lettuce, which he sells to buyers in Manolo Fortich and Cagayan de Oro City. As a young farmer and business owner, Noel recognizes the importance of continuous learning and collaboration in fostering the growth and sustainability of his enterprise. “As a new business owner and fast-growing siya, I need help. Especially if new business ka, ikaw gyud ang mu-work like if one-man team ka, ang maka-help gyud saimo is mga agencies from the government, like sa DTI. Since 23 pako naa gyud koy impostor syndrome, maong ako gyung gina-maximize nga tanan offer sa government akong e-take para akong experiences, akong learning, knowledge, and akong skills pod kay mu-improve,” stated Labis.
LEDIPO Designate Lorraine Requinton delivered a message of support to the newly registered business owners, expressing hope that the seminar would provide them with a solid foundation for managing their businesses. Meanwhile, Sangguniang Bayan Member and Committee Chairperson on Trade, Commerce, and Cooperative, Coun. Christy “Tata” Leparto, also addressed the participants, assuring them of the local government’s commitment to providing assistance and fostering a conducive business environment in the municipality.
