BUSECO Concludes Sitio Electrification Program 2024 in Damilag, Lingion, and Lunocan

Sitio Electrification Program at Manolo Fortich

The Bukidnon Second Electric Cooperative Inc. (BUSECO) has completed its Sitio Electrification Program (SEP) for 2024 in Manolo Fortich, bringing power to three remaining sitios: Purok 12-A Lower in Barangay Damilag, Purok 6 Lower in Barangay Lingion, and Zone 4 Pulog Hills in Barangay Lunocan. The milestone was marked by a ceremonial energization held last Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at Purok 12-A Lower, Damilag.

Present at the event was Mayor Rogelio N. Quiño, who expressed his deep gratitude to BUSECO for bringing electricity to remote areas, “Ang BUSECO ato gyud ni sila gihangyo na ma sugaan ang atong mga kaigsoonan sa mga hilit na dapit sa mga kabarangayan. Ato baya gyud ning basic right. Naay mga bata nga nangiskwela og modular nga galisod og avail ani. So, salamat gyud kaayo BUSECO.”

In response, Consumer Welfare Member-Owner Development Services (CWMODS) Division Chief - Manolo Fortich Anatolio A. Penados Jr. emphasized the benefits of electrification, noting how it enhances household convenience and supports students' education, “Karon nga naka electricity grid nata, bisan unsa pa gamiton, kaya sa atong kuryente. Aduna pud ni positibo nga effect sa inyong mga anak na ga tungha. Maka study na sila ug dili na sila kinanglan muadto pa sa sentro kung mag kompyuter man gani sila or mag wifi.”

For 48 years, BUSECO has remained committed to empowering communities by ensuring access to electricity as a basic right. This year alone, six sitios in Manolo Fortich have benefited from the SEP, energizing a total of 75 households. Of these, 36 households were part of the recent ceremonial energization, with the following breakdown: 29 in Damilag, 2 in Lingion, and 5 in Lunocan.

Among the 29 beneficiaries in Barangay Damilag is Maridel Abiera, 31 years old, who shared how difficult it was to live without electricity, “Kami nagpasalamat og dako sa opportunity nga ang among purok ang napilian sa maong programa sa SEP. Sauna, pangandoy lang namo na mataoran kami og kuryente, apan sa among ka kabus maglisod kami sa pagpataod. Busa, dako jud among pagpasalamat.”

To streamline the electrification process, the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Manolo Fortich committed to shouldering the cost of clearances, permits, and other necessary requirements to establish electricity in the sitios. While this initiative has made access to electricity easier for beneficiaries, BUSECO reminds residents to fulfill their responsibility by paying their electricity bills on time and practicing responsible consumption.
