Municipal Anti-Drug Abuse Council (MADAC) members gathered at the Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (LDRRMO) Conference Hall to conduct their 1st quarter meeting on the afternoon of March 29, 2023.
According to the report presented in the meeting, 17 barangays in the municipality are Drug-Cleared which includes Barangay Dahilayan, Minsuro, Kalugmanan, Mampayag, Lingion, Sankanan, Guilang-guilang, Santiago, Sto Niño, San Miguel, Ticala, Mantibugao, Dalirig, Maluko, Mambatangan, Tankulan, and Agusan Canyon. Meanwhile, clearance approval for barangays Alae and Dicklum is still being processed. However, according to Dr. Joanne Marie Dueñas, the deliberation of Barangay Alae and Dicklum as one of the Drug-Cleared barangays is expected on April 20, 2023.
In Barangay Alae, there are 32 Person Who Use Drugs (PWUDs), whereas in Barangay Dicklum there were 37 PWUDs who graduated in the Community Based Rehabilitation Program (CBRP) last year, 2022, and complied with the minimum standard for drug testing.
Additionally, the council also tackled the situation of Balay Silangan. According to Atty. Ricci Jamila, the LGU Manolo Fortich aimed to convey a Memorandum Of Agreement (MOA) to the Local Government Unit of Kauswagan, Lanao del Norte, to house the 126 drug pushers in Manolo Fortich in their Balay Silangan.
Atty. Jamila explained that if they wait for the completion of the planned Balay Silangan in Sitio Gaboc, Brgy. Lingion, delay in the operations is inevitable because the completion of its facilities and building requirements are still ongoing. Moreover, if the project does finish, there are still a lot of documents and requirements to be processed before it will officially operate. The Balay Silangan in Kauswagan Lanao del Norte is fully developed and equipped with free skills training. The objective of our LGU is to finalize the construction this coming month of June to begin the enrollment of drug pushers, which is one of the bases to consider to declare the municipality as Drug-Cleared.
The meeting was attended by MLGOO Cherry Lou Lafuente, Executive Assistant Atty. Ricci A. Jamila, Municipal Health Officer Dr. Joanne Maire Dueñas, as well as different representatives from the Manolo Fortich Police Station, DepEd, MSWDO, SK, MIO, MTO, and others. Committee Chair on Peace and Order Hon. Jay Albarece presided over the meeting.
