After almost garnering the coveted Seal of Good Local Governance last year, the Local Government of Manolo Fortich once again presented its implemented projects, activities, and programs for 2022 to the evaluators at the New Government Center on June 26, 2023.
With this year’s theme, Pagkilala sa Katapatan at Kahusayan ng Pamahalaang Lokal, the Department of Interior and Local Government visited the various provinces, cities, and municipalities to conduct the onsite assessment. The Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) is an award, incentive, honor, and recognition-based program for all LGUs. It is a continuing commitment for LGUs to continually progress and improve their performance in 10 different areas, which are: Financial Administration and Sustainability, Disaster Preparedness, Social Protection and Sensitivity, Health Compliance and Responsiveness, Sustainable Education, Business-Friendliness and Competitiveness, Safety, Peace and Order, Environmental Management, Tourism, Heritage Development, Culture and Arts, and Youth Development.
Present in the evaluation are the offices that shall undergo the assessment, namely the Municipal Treasurer’s Office, Municipal Planning and Development Office, Municipal Tourism Office, Business Permit and Licensing Office, Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office, Persons With Disability Affairs Office, Local Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office, Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office, Local Youth Development Offices, and the Rural Health Unit.
The regional evaluation team is composed of Glenda Hope Beley of South Cluster Head-Province Leader, Val Jason Alpas LGOO II of Malaybalay City; Neal Bryan Rendal, the BSU-Libona ANNEX Campus Head, with Karyn Shaira Madridao, the LGOO II of Kitaotao and Carlos Labis Jr. the LGOO VI of the Municipality of Pangantucan. They conducted the simultaneous site inspection of the municipal facilities such as the sanitary landfill, the comfort rooms and ramps, and the existence of sectoral offices for the PWDs, Youth, and Senior Citizens, among others. This is done as supporting affirmations to the projects, activities, and programs stated in the documents prepared by the LGU Manolo Fortich in the previous calendar year.
After the assessment proper, which included rigid interviews and document reviews, a feedback session was held. During the session, the evaluators presented partial results to the participants.
Municipal Administrator Engineer Joie Cesar M. Gaid, on behalf of Municipal Mayor Rogelio N. Quiño, accompanied Mr. Carlos Labis Jr. the LGOO VI of the Municipality of Pangantucan in the site inspection at the Sanitary Landfill and the Mangima Spring Resort and Bike Park together with Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office Head Sharon Tacbobo and Municipal Information Officer Joey T. Yecyec. In his message, he shared that this is a moment that the participants had anticipated. “This is the time to showcase what we have been doing for the past year. I know that we have been doing this not just for complying with what is needed but as a culture of how we serve the people of Manolo Fortich. This is also a test if, we are really doing what we are supposed to do.” He also congratulated the Department Heads and the technical working group who exerted the effort on doing their job.
DILG Head Cherry Lou Lafuente thanked the members of LGU Manolo Fortich for the full support for the preparation of the SGLG., “Kabalo jud ko unsa inyong pagpaningkamot. Hopefully noh, mag ampo ta nga makalahutay ta. This is not the end of our journey but whatever the outcome congratulations! This is already an achievement because the SGLG is not just an award, this is about improving our services and practicing good local governance.”
