44 Daycare Teachers Prepares for School Opening through National ECCD Training

All geared up for School Year 2023-2024

In preparation for the daycare classes on September 4, 2023, 44 daycare teachers underwent a training program titled 'Learning Curriculum and Managing Children with Developmental Delays and Disabilities in Early Childhood.' This training took place from August 30 to September 1, 2023, at Loiza’s Pavilion in Casisang, Malaybalay City, Bukidnon.

Among the 44 teachers, 16 are newly hired, including Teacher Ma. Theresa A. Campos. She resides in Barangay Kalugmanan and is assigned to the newly established daycare center in Sitio Kibulawan within the same barangay. Teacher Campos plans to conduct a mapping exercise to identify her pupils in preparation for the upcoming class opening. She also shared her thoughts and experiences as a new teacher. “Dako jud kaayo ni nakatabang nga seminar it’s because nadugangan bitaw among ma kahibalo ma’am kung unsoan namo ang mga strategies mga pamaagi para unsaon namo learners nga ma-impart namo among mga pagtulun-an sa umaabot nga school year.”

As a confirmation of her commitment, the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office took steps to ensure that the teachers were well-prepared. They invited two resource speakers from the National Early Childhood Care and Development Council, namely Edwin L. Taleon and Balagtas Himigbayan Q. Santiago. Mr. Taleon explained that the ECCD Council is a national agency dedicated to serving the Early Childhood population aged 0-4 years old. One of their primary responsibilities is to offer technical support to Early Childhood Care and Development centers within the Local Government Units. “We can improve and provide more enriching training by including the system for PEIRIDDDEC or Prevention and Early Identification and Referral and Intervention of Delays, Disorder and Disabilities in Early Childhood. We included this topic because it is important for us to include children with disabilities in our early learning programs.”

The said preparation for the teachers is well-supported by the Chairperson of the Committee on Education Hon. Councilor Miguel D. Demata as well as the Municipal Mayor Rogelio N. Quiño.
