To further mold Manolo Fortich as a community where peace and safety thrives for the people, members of the Municipal Public and Order Council (MPOC) conducts the 3rd Quarter Meeting as discussions on updates and accomplishments of public safety, as well as peace and order continued at the New Government Center Conference Room, Barangay Tankulan on September 5, 2023
The council meeting was facilitated by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) and MPOC Secretariat, Cherry Lou B. Lafuente. The meeting presider was Sangguniang Bayan Member and Committee Chairperson on Peace and Order, Coun. Jay S. Albarece. In addition, Vice Mayor Reynaldo L. Bagayas Jr. and Executive Assistant Atty. Ricci A. Jamila were present.
On the topics, the discussions are the (1) accomplisments and updates of the Peace and Order and Public Safety Plans (POPS PPS) discussed by Shelemia A. Pimentel of the Municipal Planning and Development Office (MPDO), (2) Peace and Order updates by Manolo Fortich Police Station given by PMAJ Harvey A. Sanchez, (3) updates from Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) given by SF02 Rafael I Corona Jr., (4) updates from Manolo Fortich Road Traffic Administration (MFRTA) given by Diosdado D. Ensencio, and (5) updates from the Local Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (LDDRMO) given by Rosseau M. Clerigo.
The PMAJ Sanchez presented updates on the municipality's crime environment and situation, prevalence of crime and illegal drugs. and accomplishments. Recently, Manolo Fortich Police Station was hailed Best Police Station in Region 10. On the BFP updates, SF02 Corona Jr. presented their recent best practices, significant accomplishments, and the highlight, which is that there was no fire recorded in the municipality for the month of July.
Ensencio presented recent productive activities of the BFP, which is their Traffic Information Education Campaign, to the barangays, offices, and schools. They also had newly installed signages along the municipality’s highways. Clerigo also shared updates from the LDRRMO on recent vehicular accidents, training, seminars, operations, typhoons, and upcoming training and projects.
On the updates of the Peace and Order and Public Safety Plan implementation, Pimentel shares the budget allocation per office as well as the Peace and Order and Public Safety Plan Policy Compliance Monitoring System (POPS PCMS) that serves as monitoring system for the projects and accomplishments of each office.
Lafuente then discussed the urgency of attaining productivity for the council, “We need to have high functionality sa atong MPOC. Isa sa atong indicator na dako jud kaayo og puntos is ang ulitization sa physical and financial accomplishments sa atong POPS PPS. We need to get at least 75% para maka attain og high functionality.” As of now, the council is still 29% in its current progress, with wide expectation of advancing.
Furthermore, the accomplishment of public safety, as well as peace and order involves a long process that will require an adequate amount not only of financial and physical aspect, but of proper planning and strategies by each office with due work. Until then, it is by the LGU’s continuous efforts in providing a comfortable and secure community that locals of Manolo Fortich can safely reside.
