TESDA LEADS DRESSMAKING NC II TRAINING IN 2ND MUNICIPAL LIVELIHOOD SUMMIT

2nd Municipal Livelihood Summit

Manolo Fortich Technical Education and Skills Development Association (TESDA) is one this year’s 2nd Municipal Livelihood Summit’s major partners and sponsors as it kicks off its 21 days worth of training for registered participants of the Dressmaking NC II Training at the Technical Education and Skills Development Center (TESDC), Barangay Tankulan, Manolo Fortich on Thursday, November 23, 2023.

The training will last until December 15, 2023 which includes weekdays and Sundays. This is participated by over 27 participants with keen interests in gaining a wider expertise on dressmaking as the participants are both dressmakers with experience and newcomers to the field who had their interests sparked by the advertisements of the livelihood summit’s series of training prior to its launch.

Among the newcomers to dressmaking is Cris Alegado, 30 years old, from Barangay Tankulan. As someone who only knows how to sew tablecloths, she thinks that the training is an opportunity for her to broaden her skill. “Nice naman gyud ni nga opportunity labaw nga free siya, accessible siya sa ako, and then pila ra gyud pud ka weeks. Para pud ni sa akoang business nga nag start pa pud ko karon sa pag design sa table sa catering. Gusto ko madugangan akong kahibalo sa pagtahi sa mga table clothing. Bisag basic lang siya.”

TESDA has prepared various workshops with steps that can equip the participants in the standard procedures of dressmaking. Technical Support Staff from TESDA, Rebecca E. Escalona serves as the trainer all throughout the training period. According to her, the participants will undergo 4 hours of training per day. They will be venturing out on learning how to do body measurements, pattern making, pinning buttons and zippers, ironing, operating the sewing machine, and the like. They are expected to produce at least a trouser and a blouse at the end of the training.

“Makapanahi najud dayun sila og orders paghuman ani kay kani nga training makatuon naman dayun sila’g tahi ug makabuo og sanina na pambabae. Kibali, maagian jud nila tanan stages sa pagtahi. Makadawat najud ni sila og orders once makabalo na ni silag operate sa makina and makabalo sa insaktong standard procedures.”, says Escalona on what to expect out of the participants’ learning outcomes.

As the LGU gives service to its people, it is hoped that the people will also learn to give back to the community in a way of uplifting the economic stance of Manolo Fortich.
