November 13-29, 2023 - The Human Resource Management Office (HRMO) of the Local Government of Manolo Fortich headed by HRM Officer Catherine C. Gatchalian, alongside Municipal Executive Assistant Atty. Ricci A. Jamila facilitated a 7-day drug-free workplace orientation policy for 881 LGU officials and employees. The orientation sessions took place inside the ABC Hall and Sangguniang Bayan Office Conference Room.
To accommodate all officials and employees, the orientation was conducted in batches, and attendance was mandatory for everyone. This directive was in accordance with Article V of Republic Act No. 9165, commonly known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, along with its Implementing Rules and Regulations.
The primary objective of the orientation was to raise awareness of the drug-free workplace policy, aiming to prevent employees and officials from being under the influence of alcohol or controlled substances. The policy encompasses various aspects of illegal drug activities in the workplace, including manufacturing, distribution, sale, purchase of illicit drugs, and others.
Conducting the orientation provided a platform for employees and officials to gain a comprehensive understanding of a drug-free workplace. It also aimed to motivate each participant to actively support guidelines, policies, and drug-related programs, fostering a sense of responsibility for holistic wellness within the workplace.
The orientation sessions emphasized the importance of a drug-free workplace, emphasizing that it ensures the health, safety, and well-being of all employees and officials. Moreover, maintaining a drug-free environment safeguards clients in their requests for services from the LGU, as the use of illegal drugs can significantly impact the quality of services provided by employees.
Additionally, the orientation served as a prerequisite for the upcoming random drug-testing, scheduled to be conducted at any time within the year 2024. This proactive approach underscores Mayor Rogelio N. Quiño's support and the LGU's commitment to maintaining a drug-free workplace and ensuring the continued safety and well-being of its workforce.
