ELEVATING THE YOUTH OF MANOLO FORTICH THROUGH DEVELOPMENT AND FORMULATION OF AYDAP

The young Manoleños in action!

The youth of Manolo Fortich are preparing for a year of productivity and fruitfulness for their fellows as the Annual Youth Development Action Plan (AYDAP) capacity development and formulation by the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) and the Local Youth Development Council (LYDC) led by the Local Youth Development Office (LYDO) concludes last February 3 to 4, 2024, at Midway Beach Resort, Initao, Misamis Oriental.

The AYDAP is a comprehensive action plan that specifically showcases the activities of the youth for the whole year. In Manolo Fortich, it is crafted by the SK and the LYDC organizations of its local government. The majority of its content is youth-related activities and partnerships, which are focused on the 9 Centers of Participation, namely Health, Education, Economic Empowerment, Social Inclusion and Equity, Peacebuilding and Security, Governance, Active Citizenship, Environment, and Global Mobility. Each center has its own Programs, Projects, and Activities (PPAs) of the local government.

LYDO Head Alejandro Arenal, who is also among the core organizers of the activity, explained how the 9 Centers of Participation were discussed during the action plan formulation, “So what we did kay amo silang gi by group, and each group was assigned to a center nga didto gyud sila mismo nag focus kung unsa ilang ma draft na action plan ana for the whole year. Each center pud has its own PPA. So, nag draft jud sila og budget for the whole year for that center.”

SK Federation President Coun. Lennox Tabaco is among the participants of the action plan formulation who belonged to the group where Education was the main agenda of discussion for a PPA. He shares the vision of his center’s plan, “Maka acquire jud unta tanan og education freely. It's the key to success man gyud pud and then mao ra gyud na ang gahom nga dili makuha sa imo. Education sa mga kabataan, siya ang key to a poverty-free Manolo.”

Coun. Tabaco also explains how the AYDAP formulation was beneficial for the council, “Dako gyud siya og help for me sa pag collaborate sa ideas sa council. Lahi-lahi baya mi og ideas sa mga presidente sa lain-lain na mga organizations. Sa kato nga pamaagi, nag tinabanga ug nag collaborate mi sa among mga gipang huna-huna.”

The crafting of the AYDAP is only among the first steps for the youth leaders of Manolo Fortich. In its process, Arenal explains that through the supervision of LYDO, each center is to be realized and implemented before the year ends, “We look forward to this year nga tungod naa naman jud ang atong office, mas ma tutukan najud ang plan. Ma assess and ma evaluate namo kung naa bay nabuhat or na achieve ba siya.”

In total, there were 38 participants of the action plan formulation training comprising the LYDC, Alae National High School, and 4 Municipal Child Representatives. Wilson J. Hormeguera from the Municipal Planning and Development Office of Initao, Misamis Oriental also served as the resource speaker during the activity.
