MHO ADVOCATES APPRECIATION FOR BARANGAY HEALTH WORKERS THROUGH 2ND BHW ANNUAL SUMMIT
2nd BHW Summit 2024
The 2nd Barangay Health Worker (BHW) Summit conducted a worthwhile day of recognition, contests, and celebration as 275 BHWs attended its prepared activities, headed by the Municipal Health Office (MHO) at the Northern Bukidnon State College Covered Court, Barangay Tankulan, Manolo Fortich, on Tuesday, July 7, 2024.
In his welcoming address, Municipal Mayor Rogelio N. Quiño extended his heartfelt greetings to the health workers and dedicated the summit as a reward for their hard work, “Akong pagtimbaya ug pagtahod sa atong mga barangay heroes. Kamo ang mga bayani sa atong mga kabarangayan, sa inyong pagtrabaho para sa kaayohan ug panglawas sa atong mga kaigsuonan. Makaingon ta nga dili sayon ang pagboluntaryo. Busa, salamat sa gipahigayon nga BHW Summit nga kini alang kaninyo.”
The summit first recognized all the participating BHWs from the 22 barangays, along with their certificates of participation, who completed the 5-Day Barangay Health Workers Training held last February 5-9, 2024. The awarding body was composed of Vice Governor Clive D. Quiño, Vice Mayor Reynaldo L. Bagayas Jr., members of the Sangguniang Bayan, and Public Health Nurse Katrina Tilap.
BHWs were also given the platform to perform in several contests prepared by MHO, such as a representative for the best in uniform, a dance contest with a 90s theme participated in by 5 barangays, and comical skits. Online contests such as the infomercial and Tiktok Video Contest were posted on the LGU Manolo Fortich Facebook Page in advance, and the winners were selected during the summit.

1st Runner Up: Barangay Damilag
2nd Runner Up: Barangay Agusan Canyon
Comical Skit Contest:
1st Runner Up: Barangay Minsuro
2nd Runner Up: Barangay Dalirig
Infomercial Contest:
1st Runner Up: Barangay San Miguel
2nd Runner Up: Barangay Maluko
Tiktok Video Contest:
1st Runner Up: Barangay Dicklum
2nd Runner Up: Barangay Ticala
Best in Uniform:
1st Runner Up: Barangay Sankanan
2nd Runner Up: Barangay Lingion
For the dance, infomercial, comical skit, and Tiktok Video Contest winners, 1st Runner Up placers received 2,500 pesos cash while 2nd Runner Up placers received 1,500 pesos cash. At the same time, best in uniform placers both received 500 pesos cash. There were also raffle draws, and the BHWs received tumblers, Tupperware, utensils, 500 pesos cash, and the grand prizes of Kitchen Master utensils container, foam, and electric fans.
BHW Marivic Sentasas, 37 years old from Barangay Ticala, was among the raffle winners of the Kitchen Master utensils container. She shared how grateful she was for her experience of the summit, “Nalipay kaayo ko kay sa una wala ko nakadawat, karon nakadawat ko. Dako kaayo og tabang ang summit sa amoa kay nakahalubilo mi og sama namo nga mga BHW. Dili ra puro trabaho ang gi-atubang, naka relax sad mi karon ug nakadawat og mga papremyo gikan sa munisipyo.”
