SILG Abalos heads Water System Project Turnover in Manolo Fortich

Secretary of Interior and Local Government Atty. Benjamin “Benhur” C. Abalos Jr. heads the turn-over of the Water System Level II project in Barangay Tankulan and Dicklum on August 2, 2022. Along with the Secretary are DILG X Regional Director Arnel M. Agabe, DILG Provincial Director Ma. Corazon M. Cimacio, PNP Regional Director PB Gen Benjamin C. Acorda Jr, Bukidnon Provincial Vice Governor Clive D. Quiño, Manolo Fortich Mayor Rogelio N. Quiño, members of the Sangguniang Bayan spearheaded by Vice Mayor Reynaldo L. Bagayas Jr. and other officers in the municipality.
Thousands of residents will benefit from this 12-million-peso project from Sagana at Ligtas na Tubig sa Lahat (SALINTUBIG) program of the DILG. SILG Abalos praised the leadership of the administration of Mayor Rogelio N. Quiño for its determination to extend assistance and provide livelihood for the people most especially those who are members of the Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDA). He also felt the quality service of Mayor Quiño and his son Vice Governor Clive D. Quiño that comes from the heart of true leadership that works hard to alleviate poverty in the municipality of Manolo Fortich. “This is the kind of leadership that we need. By showing people even those in the isolated Geographically, that indeed there is government. Actions not words, you have been showing this as per records”, this is what SILG Abalos shared.
Mayor Rogelio N. Quiño said that ever since his service, the local government unit of Manolo Fortich received an estimate of 128 million worth of projects from the DILG. “I believe with our accomplishment in construction of water system implementations, we cannot say we have perfected in implementing. But we have at least served the people of Manolo Fortich specially those who are in need of water facilities.”
On the other hand, Bukidnon Vice Governor Clive D. Quiño also shared that this is the first time that the municipality is visited by SILG Abalos. According to him, the Bottoms-up, Assistance to the Municipalities and SALINTUBIG projects already offered great help to the sitios of Manolo Fortich. Aside from the water system, they also established the lying-in project.
The residents are thankful, one of them is Emilio J. Virador from Purok 1, Barangay Dicklum. He said that with the projects, they don’t need to wake up every night to store water. “We give thanks to this project, because through it we are able to have a comfortable daily routine. Today, using the modern technology, I hope we give importance to it.”
In connection to the turn-over ceremony, SILG Abalos asked the LGU to reinforce the Barangay Anti-Drug Abuse Council (BADAC) to continue addressing the problem on drugs. He also encouraged the parents and the Municipal Health Office to increase the number of vaccinated individuals against Covid-19 most especially now that the Department of Education is pursuing its Face-to-Face classes on August.
Atty. Abalos is the newly appointed DILG Secretary by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. under his administration. He is the former chairman of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority. He also served as a mayor, councilor and congressman of Mandaluyong. He also became the president of League of Cities of the Philippines in the year 2007 until 2010 and also became president of the Union of Local Authorities in the Philippines. Under his management as Local Chief Executive in Mandaluyong, he received numerous recognition such as the 2015 United Nations Public Service Award, Presidential Award as Most Child Friendly City in the Philippines
